The Electric Cinema

Part of the Soho House Group, The Electric Cinema approached Superwire needing an upgraded website to reflect their expanding London based independent cinema brand.

Taking inspiration from classic art deco cinema aesthetics we designed and built an elegant, mobile-ready website which is visited over 100,00 visits per month. Our solution included a fully editable film programme, branded weekly online newsletter and integration with a third-party online ticketing engine.

Fully rebranded website experience

The existing visual identity is derived from the original signage from the Electric Cinema in Notting Hill, west London, which was established over 100 years ago. In our design we aimed to create a look and feel that was sympathetic to this aesthetic, but supported by a strong and modern user experience: visitors can explore programme listings visually in a number of different ways - by film, by date, or by venue - and we also developed a 'Search By Seat' function to allow die-hard cinema fanatics to see what’s available for their favourite spot.

Behind the scenes, a bespoke content management solution was evolved to handle both film details and creative events at multiple venues, as well as members-only screenings. The site is maintained on an ongoing basis and Superwire continue to provide support for future expansion as the business grows.

Working with Superwire was great. They were friendly, super efficient and always made time to listen to our requirements and interpret them, right through from the design to implementation.
